SCOPE
Brand + Consumer Packaging

A New Type of High

OLO set out to create a new kind of cannabis brand—one designed for a more sophisticated consumer and built around the science of how cannabis can make you feel.

The challenge was to move the category beyond its expected visual language. Rather than leaning into the familiar cues of cannabis, we created a brand that felt clean, modern and approachable, while giving each product a distinct personality.

Designing Around the Experience

OLO organized its products around four experiences: Social, Chill, Focus and Active. This became the foundation for the visual system, giving each variety its own expression while maintaining a cohesive brand across the portfolio.

Clean typography, generous negative space and strategic pops of color created a premium aesthetic that felt more at home in a contemporary wellness environment than a traditional cannabis marketplace. The system extended across the packaging, creating a flexible family of products that could grow as the brand expanded.

Making the Brand Easy to Understand

Because OLO introduced a different way of thinking about cannabis, education became an important part of the brand experience.

I developed an Experience Guide for budtenders that translated the product line into a simple, approachable resource—helping them understand each variety and communicate the expected experience to customers.

The result was a brand system that balanced science, sophistication and accessibility, giving OLO a distinct position in an emerging category.

Recognized for the System

The OLO packaging system received multiple honors, including a 2018 Health + Wellness Design Award from GD USA.

This work was created while working at The Velo Group.
